We use locally sourced timber as well as the highest quality UK manufactured fixtures and fittings. Our design and installation teams are experienced and accredited.

WHAT IS TIMBER KNEE RAIL FENCING?

Knee rail fencing is sometimes known as birdsmouth or diamond rail fencing. As the name suggests, it is a low fence normally no higher than the knee. This combined with the timber construction makes it an aesthetically pleasing and less intrusive means of boundary demarcation. In the main, it would be used to restrict vehicular access to particular areas in a way that is sympathetic to the surroundings. Unlike other types, timber knee rail fencing has a natural aesthetic that is often sought by the council, architects, and specifiers.

IDEAL USES FOR KNEE RAIL FENCING

  • car parks
  • schools
  • parks
  • public gardens
  • beauty spots
  • sports fields

CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF KNEE RAIL FENCING

Timber knee rail fencing is one of the simplest designs available on the market. This combined with ease of installation makes it one of the most cost-effective.

Substantial upright posts are normally set into a concrete foundation. A triangular birds mouth wedge shape is cut out from the type of the upright forming a secure a seat in which to support the horizontal timber beam.

The horizontal beam is turned in such a way that the corners sit in the wedge giving it a diamond-shaped profile. The main benefit of this is that rainwater runs straight off and does not pool. It also makes this design difficult to climb or sit on for long periods. This combined with the fact that we use locally sourced pressure-treated timber, gives the system longevity and cuts down on maintenance costs. Galvanised, weatherproof straps are then used to secure the whole system in place.

If you need a non-traditional design for your timber knee rail fence, our talented designers would be happy to come up with a bespoke design for you.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SAY

Morgan Sindall have undertaken a number of contracts where Integrated Fencing, have been appointed to deliver security fencing, gates and hoarding works to our sites. The whole ethos of all Integrated Fencing staff aligns closely with our values as a business and as such, Integrated Fencing have recently been awarded our Sub-Contractor of the Year Award for 2020 for their consistent high performance. Integrated Fencing the successful contractor, their tender was within budget and we were fully aware of their experience in the fencing industry and their pro-active approach.

Their directors visited the site to attend meetings to help us with the design of the system which was first class.
We would highly recommend We look forward to working with them on future projects
.

It did not go unnoticed that you were put in a very difficult predicament by the failings of our ground works contractor but despite this, you and your team stuck at it working late nights and weekends to help us achieve the completion date. It’s very rare to see a Managing Director rolling his sleeves up to help his team out but you did this on numerous occasions in atrocious weather conditions and on weekends and for this we cannot thank you enough.

This leads me on to your site team who worked extremely close with our site team for the duration of the project and despite the extreme weather and ground conditions they simply got on with it. They’re attitude and willingness to complete the job in hand is fantastic, this together with the standard of work produced all makes for a winning team.

I have worked with numerous quality men over the last 30 years, and this has to be up there as one of the best. Please pass on our thanks to your team. Thanks again for your efforts on the project and we wish you every success in the future and hope your business grows. It has been a pleasure working with you on YGGT and we look forward to the prospect of working with you in the near future.
