RISING BARRIERS FROM INTEGRATED FENCING
Rising barriers are probably the most simple and yet cost-effective and functional of the many types of security gating on the market. Often seen on car parking facilities and toll booths they consist of an electronic mechanically controlled heavy-duty arm that blocks access to vehicular traffic. It rises after presentation of some sort of authorisation or payment and then lowers again after passage.

Design and Install Raising Barriers
We design and install automatic rising barriers at tailored widths to suit your requirements. Our expert installers can fit them at heights of between 1 and 1.2 metres. Not only are they quality items but they are also fantastic value for money.
Our barriers can be coloured to match existing installations or your company branding. We can colour match posts and we also supply Anti-tamper Fittings. We can also design and manufacture skirts from a range of materials and introduce custom designs for them.
With an Access Control Package which can be tailored to suit your specific requirements, all of our gates can be automated by one of our DHF certified engineers. We always incorporate safety features on automated barriers like photocell sensors that halt them when obstructed.
ADVANTAGES OF A RISING BARRIER
- SIMPLICITY
Rising barriers are of reasonably simple construction with very few moving parts, They are also also very versatile. Depending on their weight and the strength of the lifting mechanism it is possible to span a gap of up to 10 metres with a single barrier.
- ECONOMY
Rising barriers are normally very cost effective when compared with other more complicated automated barrier gates. Programming the automated rising and lowering of a barrier is also less complicated. This combined with the fact that they are constructed from a simple tubular bar with possibly (but not always) some form of skirt, means that manufacturing and installation costs are lower than other barriers.
- DURABILITY
Rising barriers are normally constructed from very robust materials. The hydraulic lifting mechanisms and electronic controls do not take up much space and can be easily shielded from the elements. This makes them all-season ready for continuous use with a 100% duty cycle.
- IN VEHICLE CONTROLS
For speed and efficiency, the ability of an authorised person to trigger raising of the barrier without leaving their vehicle is often desirable. This can be accomplished through a proximity card with card reader located on an access pedestal, a fob with a remote control mechanism operated from inside a vehicle and even a mobile phone contactless authorisation app.
USES FOR A RISING BARRIER
This type of barrier is mainly deployed for restricting access to a controlled area or a designated point of entry or exit. They are used for authorising access, collecting fees and tolls, traffic calming and re-routing and verifying permitted exit from a controlled area. They are also commonly found at checkpoints and border controls.
CONTROLLING A RISING BARRIER
Access control systems have come on in leaps and bounds. The control possibilities are almost endless. Authorised access control mechanisms include remote control, fob taps on a sensing plate ID card swipes, number plate recognition systems and others.
In addition, many safety control features can be incorporated including alarms, flashing beacon lights and vehicle sensor photocells that halt the barrier closing process the moment it connects with some sort of obstruction.
Of course not all control systems use the latest tech for autonomous operation. It is still popular to wire a rising barrier up to a control room either close by or remote where an operator pushes an old fashioned button to raise the barrier.
