Uses for Timber Hoarding

This type of temporary wood fence has limitless applications due to its adaptability. We have installed our fencing systems in:

  • Construction sites
  • Waste disposal facilities
  • Sports grounds and sporting events
  • Empty shops and houses exposed to potential vandalism

Construction Sites

We are often contracted to provide wooden hoarding around the perimeter of building and construction sites. The solid nature of the system means that passers-by are protected from the danger of dust particles and debris or materials that may drop from elevated positions. Because they also prevent people from being able to see into a site, they deter criminals from attempting entry.

Waste Disposal

Many waste disposal facilities use solid panel fencing to prevent waste products from being blown away from the disposal area. This can be for smaller areas like community bins right through to commercial dumping and recycling facilities.

Sports Grounds and Sporting Events

Solid timber hoarding is often used in places like cricket and baseball facilities where an overshot might put passers-by in danger of being struck by a loose ball. They are also used in situations where organisers want to restrict the sight of a sporting event to paying customers only.

Empty Buildings

With an increasing amount of empty shops and buildings around town centres, timber hoarding is in great demand to protect them from break-ins, vandalism and the potential for squatters to take over the premises.

Supply and Installation of Wooden Hoarding by Integrated Fencing

Integrated Fencing offers a free initial site survey and consultation. Our designers can design your system to take into account wind loading calculations, any design factors such as logos and graphics that you would like printed on the hoarding and whether there are any underground services that dictate how the system is mounted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Timber hoarding is a temporary perimeter fencing system constructed from solid wood panels mounted on posts. It is used both as a safety measure on building sites to protect passers by from dust and debris and also as a security fence that stops casual observers from being able to see into an area it encompasses.

That is not to say that a temporary wood fence like this cannot be reused because it certainly can. With proper care and weatherproofing, wooden hoarding can be used again and again. Taking down and moving to a new site is often a simple matter of removing the screw, nails and brackets that fix it to the posts.

Typically, a slow-grown softwood, usually pine. To comply with the wind-loading requirements the wood must be of a certain size and quality. The wood must be stress graded to comply with the minimum strength requirements.

Hoardings are temporary works and therefore consideration must be given to BS 5975:2005+A1:2011 and NFDC Guidance DRG 106:2014 for procedures for their management and control.

Hoarding is a temporary structure of solid construction. It is erected around the perimeter of construction sites to shield them from view and prevent unauthorised access.

A Class Hoarding: erected on an impact-rated barrier.
B Class Hoarding: commonly referred to as an overhead protective structure, is the second most popular temporary structure within the construction sector.

2.4 meters, or around 8 feet. This is tall enough to shield the site from view and prevent any form of climbing. However, depending on the situation, a taller hoarding might be more appropriate.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SAY

Morgan Sindall have undertaken a number of contracts where Integrated Fencing, have been appointed to deliver security fencing, gates and hoarding works to our sites. We have always found them to be helpful throughout the project phases, whether this be the early stages tenders, through on-going design development and right up to completion and handover. The whole ethos of all Integrated Fencing staff aligns closely with our values as a business and as such, Integrated Fencing have recently been awarded our Sub-Contractor of the Year Award for 2020 for their consistent high performance. We would have no issues in recommending Integrated Fencing to anyone that is looking for first-class fencing contractor.   2021

Integrated Fencing the successful contractor, their tender was within budget and we were fully aware of their experience in the fencing industry and their pro-active approach.

Their directors visited the site to attend meetings to help us with the design of the system which was first class.
We would highly recommend We look forward to working with them on future projects
.

It did not go unnoticed that you were put in a very difficult predicament by the failings of our ground works contractor but despite this, you and your team stuck at it working late nights and weekends to help us achieve the completion date. It’s very rare to see a Managing Director rolling his sleeves up to help his team out but you did this on numerous occasions in atrocious weather conditions and on weekends and for this we cannot thank you enough.

This leads me on to your site team who worked extremely close with our site team for the duration of the project and despite the extreme weather and ground conditions they simply got on with it. They’re attitude and willingness to complete the job in hand is fantastic, this together with the standard of work produced all makes for a winning team.

I have worked with numerous quality men over the last 30 years, and this has to be up there as one of the best. Please pass on our thanks to your team. Thanks again for your efforts on the project and we wish you every success in the future and hope your business grows. It has been a pleasure working with you on YGGT and we look forward to the prospect of working with you in the near future.
