Most common uses of timber fencing

  • Boundary fences – mark a boundary around the edge of a public or private property with a solution that blends well with the surrounding landscape.
  • Garden privacy – choose a visually pleasing garden boundary to grant you the visual privacy and noise deflection that make your garden a peaceful escape.
  • Landscaping and segregating – create depth and dimension in wide open spaces by using timber fence for a zoned effect.
  • Restricting vehicle access – use low knee rail timber fencing to restrict vehicle access onto turfed and pedestrianised areas.
  • Playgrounds and parks – secure playgrounds and protected natural areas. Restrict dog access with fencing that’s in-keeping with the landscape.
  • Screening unattractive features – use close-boarded timber to screen utilities and other eye sores from public view, preserving aesthetic appeal.

The Benefits of Timber Fencing

If you are trying to decide if timber is the most suitable fencing system for your project, let’s take a closer look at some of the considerable benefits it offers:

  • Create an aesthetically pleasing look

Unlike some metal fencing solutions, timber creates a natural, unobtrusive look that is in-keeping with either rural or urban settings. Many clients choose timber for the aesthetic appeal it grants alongside the security benefits. Some types of timber fencing even make it easy to maintain an open aspect, rather than blocking views.

  • Tailor a bespoke solution

Design your fencing solution with your exact purpose in mind. At Integrated Fencing, we’re proud to tailor all our products to each client’s need. From close-boarded systems for maximum privacy, to play-safe solutions to make an area as child-friendly as possible. Customise the height and colour scheme of your chosen timber fence.

  • Choose a durable solution

Trust Integrated Fencing to deliver a timber fence system that’s high quality and long-lasting. All our timber is FSC and PEFC certified, homegrown, and pressure-treated for strength. With lifespans of 20 years+, timber fences are a durable long-term solution for boundary marking in a range of environments. When it comes to maintenance, all you need to provide is a coating of wood preserver on a regular basis.

  • Make budgets go further

Timber is the ideal solution when budget is a primary concern. Despite being more cost-effective than metal fencing solutions, timber can provide decades of security and boundary demarcation with little maintenance. Keep costs low and still maintain the security and visual appeal of your site.

Types of Timber Fencing

Pleasing appearance, flexible, and cost effective. Take a look at our range of Timber Fencing Solutions below.

CLOSE-BOARDED FENCING

Create privacy screening with a strong timber boundary. Close-boarded fencing uses closely mounted or overlapping feather edge boards, which are mounted on horizontal supports and fixed to robust timber uprights. The result is a timber fencing system that completely disrupts the line of site, making it perfect for screening visually displeasing elements such as utilities equipment.

Close-boarded fencing is incredibly secure thanks to its strong concrete foundation, into which the supporting posts are buried. A horizontal gravel board then protects the timber fence panels from low-level water damage.

POST AND RAIL

Maintain an open aspect with fencing that doesn’t disrupt the line of site – post and rail fencing is the ideal way to mark out a boundary in an area where visual appeal is important.

Post and rail timber fencing is highly customisable, as anywhere from two to five railings can be fixed to the timber uprights. This makes it budget flexible and provides a range of design choices.

Choose from Integrated Fencing’s standard post and rail fencing systems in green or brown. We even offer timber gates which can be incorporated into your installation.

KNEE RAIL

Preserve the open feel of your area with knee rail fencing. This unobstructive low timber fence system is also sometimes called birdsmouth or diamond rail fencing, and comes up no higher than knee level. It is ideal for areas which you want to restrict vehicular or foot traffic, without completely enclosing a space or blocking a view. This makes it a popular choice for parks, public spaces, and scenic areas.

Knee rail fencing may be low, but it is no less securely fixed than more obstructive fencing. The substantial upright posts are normally set in a concrete foundation. A triangular wedge is then cut out of the top of the upright post, for the horizontal beam to sit in. This creates an angle that naturally forces rainwater to run off, supplying a waterproofing effect.

TIMBER PLAY-SAFE PALISADE

Protect a child-friendly area such as a public playground, residential green space, or educational setting with play-safe timber palisade fencing. Constructed from two horizontal running rails that support upright infill sections, this fencing solution is designed to prevent accident or injury caused by potential trapping.

As well as it’s practical features, timber play-safe palisade fencing can be customised to suit your needs. Select from a range of vibrant colour schemes to match play equipment and establish an inviting theme.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SAY

Morgan Sindall have undertaken a number of contracts where Integrated Fencing, have been appointed to deliver security fencing, gates and hoarding works to our sites. We have always found them to be helpful throughout the project phases, whether this be the early stages tenders, through on-going design development and right up to completion and handover. The whole ethos of all Integrated Fencing staff aligns closely with our values as a business and as such, Integrated Fencing have recently been awarded our Sub-Contractor of the Year Award for 2020 for their consistent high performance. We would have no issues in recommending Integrated Fencing to anyone that is looking for first-class fencing contractor.   2021

Integrated Fencing the successful contractor, their tender was within budget and we were fully aware of their experience in the fencing industry and their pro-active approach.

Their directors visited the site to attend meetings to help us with the design of the system which was first class.
We would highly recommend We look forward to working with them on future projects
.

It did not go unnoticed that you were put in a very difficult predicament by the failings of our ground works contractor but despite this, you and your team stuck at it working late nights and weekends to help us achieve the completion date. It’s very rare to see a Managing Director rolling his sleeves up to help his team out but you did this on numerous occasions in atrocious weather conditions and on weekends and for this we cannot thank you enough.

This leads me on to your site team who worked extremely close with our site team for the duration of the project and despite the extreme weather and ground conditions they simply got on with it. They’re attitude and willingness to complete the job in hand is fantastic, this together with the standard of work produced all makes for a winning team.

I have worked with numerous quality men over the last 30 years, and this has to be up there as one of the best. Please pass on our thanks to your team. Thanks again for your efforts on the project and we wish you every success in the future and hope your business grows. It has been a pleasure working with you on YGGT and we look forward to the prospect of working with you in the near future.
