Nothing. Featheredge, Feather board fencing or Close board is what people in the industry term as a ‘solid style’ fence. Feather edge refers to the individual boards used to construct a close board fence panel.  There are other types and styles of fencing available also known as ‘semi-solid’ and ‘slatted’.

Close board fencing and gates will last between 10 – 20 years. There are a host of factors as to how long a wooden fence will last. The panels are pressure treated but with regular treatment and raised from the ground with H clips will continue to extend the life of these fences and gates.

Close board fences are excellent for providing privacy. They are constructed with overlapping vertical feather edge boards. Each board is nailed to horizontal rails called arris rails and these are supported by notched posts.
