PROJECT OVERVIEW
Integrated Fencing Ltd was appointed by Morgan Sindall to undertake the fencing package for the prestigious £44 million Haverfordwest High VC High School project. This high-profile contract involved installing over 1,000 linear metres of SR1-rated fencing, along with a variety of additional fencing systems to secure the boundary and meet the school’s operational needs.
THE CHALLENGE
The site posed significant challenges due to the presence of underground services along certain fencing lines. Morgan Sindall’s strict safety protocols prohibited mechanical or hand digging within 5 metres of known utilities, requiring innovative excavation solutions to avoid service strikes. Timely delivery was essential to align with the project’s schedule.

BOUNDARY SECURITY
Integrated Fencing installed over 1,000 linear metres of SR1 twin-wire fencing and gates, along with SR1-rated 358 fencing systems to secure the school’s perimeter. These systems provided robust security while ensuring compliance with the project’s requirements.
ADDITIONAL FENCING SOLUTIONS
- Timber hit-and-miss fencing for bin stores, sprinkler tanks, and electrical enclosures.
- Post-and-rail and knee-rail systems for defined boundaries and vehicle safety.
- Pedestrian guard rails to ensure safe movement of students and staff.
- Automated and manual rising arm barriers for bus bays and vehicle access points.
EXCAVATION WITH VAC-EX TECHNOLOGY
To safely excavate post foundations near underground services, Integrated Fencing utilised their own tracked Vacuum Excavation (Vac-Ex) machine. This innovative approach ensured no service strikes occurred, even in areas with high volumes of utilities. The Vac-Ex machine’s compact and all-terrain design enabled access to tight areas while maintaining safety and efficiency.

Working closely with Morgan Sindall’s management team, Integrated Fencing adhered to the client’s safe system of works, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols. Regular communication and a collaborative approach ensured material availability and resource planning aligned with the project timeline.
